The "Roof Thingy"
a Tutorial by Nohan

I am going to try to explain how to make these roofs. We call it the 'Roof-thingy' as a joke around here, but I think it's called Mansard roof in RL And as you all know, I am rather new at this too so, if there is something that isn't right just say so...

You need to have at least Pets, the cheat came with that EP...It's individualRoofSlopeAngle [15-75] (45 Degrees is Deafault)

We are using "Miss Sofias house"...

Here you can see how it's done...

On the second floor you build walls that are one square smaller than the bottom floor, like this

Then you put the roofs on, at the sides you use the "shedroof" and at the top a normal roof

Now, here is the trick...In the cheatbox, write the cheat individualRoofSlopeAngle 65 (or any other number, we'll get to that)

Hold down CTRL and ALT, take the rooftool and point it to the roof you wish to change, and click...there!

Do the same on both "shedroofs" and then we make the other side of the house in the same way

Put roofs on and do the cheat,

Here the "housebody" is a bit smaller so I wanted the roof to be lower, again write in the cheat and for example take 40 degrees and make the toproof lower

Then you have to "tidy" up the walls inside...it can be a bit funny....

And to get some light inside, we build like this...

Put roof on, and use the cheat to lower it, I took 35 degrees here. To the right in the picture you can see that I have made a wall for windows there as well. Three squares wide as the other side....It will look good when the same roof gets on there.

Inside it looks at bit funny, but the simmies don't mind...

Now you just have to fix things up a bit and decorate...

Done! We did it!!

This is not so hard when you once have learned it (well nothing is) and as nengi said, it's just a matter of trial and error...(and some sweat and tears!)

Don't give up!

I think the degrees depends on how big your house is, so you have to test different degrees until you are satisfied.

Good Luck!
